We’re excited to share that the new singles “Grand Slam High in New York” and “Grand Slam High Blues” by Tom & His Free Mockingbirds have been added to our esteemed Daily A-List Playlist! You can catch these tracks playing back-to-back, and they’ll also be featured daily as a special BLUES DOUBLE POWER PLAY at 7 PM Amsterdam Holland Time for the entire month. Don’t miss it!

Tom is a songwriter-producer of the indie band Tom & His Free Mockingbirds. He is also the leader of the band and Tom has the vision of growing the band into a big band like Count Basie & His Orchestra. Tom is a prolific and consummate songwriter-producer. The band loves all genres but often veered towards Blues and Folk Rocks.

In these double singles “Grand Slam High in New York” and “Grand Slam High Blues” (from our upcoming album “Sports Illustrated in Blues”), the band celebrates the tennis US Grand Slam which starts on 26 August 2024.

The protagonist in this 3-mins story is the tennis player who dream of playing in the Grand Slam. The tennis player is struggling mentally and financially, to make it professionally and make tennis as his chosen career – kinda like a love-hate relationship. In the songwriter’s mind in crafting this 3-mins story, the story mirrors struggling musician (like us the indie band) who dream of playing in festivals like Coachella, Glastonbury or in large stadiums (like Super Bowl) as part of our breakthrough dream.
